7 members of the Warminster Fire Department were honored during the Warminster Township Supervisor’s meeting on October 22, 2009. The 7 WFD members received commendations from the Warminster Township Board of Supervisors for their actions during an early morning fire at the Bucks Landing Apartment complex on October 11, 2009. While other WFD firefighters stretched hose lines to begin attacking the fire, the officers and firefighters honored began a coordinated search and rescue effort on all 3 floors of the building. A total of 10 residents were successfully rescued from the building by these firefighters. Because of heavy smoke conditions in the hallway, 4 residents had to be rescued from windows on the 2nd and 3rd floors. These residents were assisted down ground ladders to safety. Although 15 residents from the complex were transported to the hospital for evaluation, none sustained serious injuries and all were released a short time later.
The WFD members receiving commendations were:

                             Deputy Chief     Russ Heath          (D-90)

                             Captain             Kevin Lamb          (E-91)

                             Lieutenant        Tom Towers          (E-90)

                             Firefighter        Tim Lambert          (L-90)

                             Firefighter        Steve Young          (L-90)

The Engineering and Administrative Officers of the Warminster Fire Department congratulate these members for a job well done. We also wish to acknowledge the other members of the WFD, and the numerous other Fire, Police, EMS, and Dispatch professionals who assisted in bringing this incident under control quickly—with no loss of life and no serious injuries. The actions of these individuals, departments, and agencies exemplify the highest commitment and tradition of the fire service.
